New research shows the pole moving at rapid clip—25 miles (40 kilometers) a year.

Over the past century the pole has moved 685 miles (1,100 kilometers) from Arctic Canada toward Siberia, says Joe Stoner, a paleomagnetist at Oregon State University.

At its current rate the pole could move to Siberia within the next half-century, Stoner said.

"It's moving really fast," he said. "We're seeing something that hasn't happened for at least 500 years." Stoner presented his team's research at the American Geophysical Union's meeting last week in San Francisco. Lorne McKee, a geomagnetic scientist at Natural Resources Canada, says that Stoner's data fits his own readings.

"The movement of the pole definitely appears to be accelerating," he said.

Sometime in the last year, a longtime friend turned its back on Canada and was last spotted heading for Siberia.

For centuries, the magnetic North Pole was ours, a constant companion that wandered the rolling tundra and frozen seas of our Arctic.

But no more.

A Canadian scientist who recently returned from a trip to measure the Pole's current location says it has now left Canadian territory and crossed into international waters.

"I think the Pole has probably just moved past the 200-nautical-mile limit," said Larry Newitt, head of the Natural Resources Canada geomagnetic laboratory in Ottawa. "It's probably outside of Canada, technically. But we're still the closest country to it."

In May, Newitt and his instruments landed on a patch of frozen ocean at 82.5 degrees North to make a more precise measurement of the magnetic Pole's position.

The pole, which, unlike the geographic North Pole, is in constant movement, has been within modern Canadian borders since at least the 1600s -- the time of Shakespeare and Sir Isaac Newton.

In 1904 it was measured just off the northern tip of Nunavut's King William Island by Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen, and since then has moved in a north to northwesterly direction at a stately 10 kilometres per year.

But in 2001, scientists discovered that it was picking up the pace, suddenly charging ahead -- and toward the edge of Canadian territory -- at more than 40 kilometres per year.

This year, bad weather prevented Newitt from reaching the actual location of the pole, and he hasn't completed the analysis of his observations. But he got close enough to make two measurements, and says it appears the pole is farther away than expected, and moving even faster than before.

"We landed at two places at around 83 North, and it certainly appears the pole is probably closer to 84 North," he said. "That means that the pole is still continuing to accelerate."

If the pole continues its current course, it will shoot across the top of Earth and end up in Siberia by mid-century.

But the pole's movements are difficult to forecast, since its location depends on a terrestrial magnetic field that is produced by extremely complex forces deep inside Earth. Those forces, at their simplest, drive a churning mass of molten iron that rises and falls on convective currents more than 3,000 kilometres below the planet's surface. The movement of that iron conducts and produces the magnetic field, whose poles are located fairly close, although still often thousands of kilometres away from, the geographic poles.

Curiously, the speed with which the pole moves could be related to dramatic events like the massive earthquake that caused last December's devastating tsunami. That quake was big enough to alter the shape of Earth and jar the planet into a slightly different axis of rotation. It also had enough power to jolt the molten iron that powers the magnetic field, and could be partly responsible for magnetic "jerks" that are propelling the magnetic North Pole, Newitt said.

Scientists have also been intrigued by a weakening in the pole's intensity: It has lost 10 per cent of its force in the past few centuries. That could be a sign that the poles are preparing to reverse, a phenomenon that has occurred many times in Earth's distant history, said University of Alberta geophysics professor Moritz Heimpel.

Normally, our star, like Earth itself, has a north and a south magnetic pole. But for nearly a month beginning in March 2000, the Sun's south magnetic pole faded, and a north pole emerged to take its place. The Sun had two north poles.

"It sounds impossible, but it's true," says space physicist Pete Riley of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) in San Diego. "In fact, it's a fairly normal side-effect of the solar cycle." Every 11 years around solar maximum, the Sun's magnetic field goes haywire as the Sun's underlying magnetic dynamo reorganizes itself. The March 2000 event was simply a part of that upheaval.

Volcanic upheavals in the interior of the Earth which began in 1936, have changed the weight distribution and altered the balance of rotation between the fixed axis of the gyroscopic core (polaris center), and the mantle of the Earth that surrounds it. This may culminate in a pole-shift of the Earth, in which the mantle will realign it's position around the central core, to a more balanced position of rotation. The Earth's magnetic field and the north and south magnetic poles are projected by the electrified core of the Earth. An imbalance in the Earth's mantle is causing it to move about the core, so that America is heading for the equator (explains why Canada is getting warmer perhaps…), and Russia is heading for the north pole (Europe is getting colder). It is the mantle that is moving and not the magnetic poles which are fixed with the position of the gyroscopic core. This continued course of movement if suddenly accelerated, would cause the climate of Europe to be changed in the twinkling of an eye exactly as Cayce predicted. Europe will become colder as it moves closer to the north pole, and America will become more tropical as it moves towards the equator. The pole-shift will therefore be a movement of about 40 degrees. I would like to also point out that recent data suggests that the Sun began a series of solar cycles of greater solar output beginning in about 1970, which began our current period of global warming. I submit to you, that the increasing solar output over a period of some 30 years, has resulted in an increasing amount of electrical energy to be induced within the Earth's core, thereby increasing the core temperature and the resulting volcanic upheavals that are hastening the pole-shift process.

This is not to say that we can just keep on polluting our Earth… its just there are many factors right now that really has to be taken into consideration. The upheavals in the arctic mentioned by Edgar Cayce are volcanic activities beneath the crust of the Arctic and Antarctic regions of the earth. The rapid melting of the glaciers and polar ice as mentioned in the many articles posted at this website, indicate an increase in these volcanic activities. The heat is radiating outward through the crust and melting all that ice. There is a dynamic heat Engine at the center of the Earth. Giant lava plumes rise upward from the hot core toward the surface and then sink back down as they cool. These convection currents transfer heat from the great depths and bring it to the surface where it radiates through the crust into the atmosphere. You will note in the picture below, that these magma plumes are thought to sink at the poles and rise at the equator. They are also concentric with the center of rotation so that the weight is evenly distributed and balanced.

Scientists have long known that the magnetic pole moves. James Ross located the pole for the first time in 1831 after an exhausting arctic journey during which his ship got stuck in the ice for four years. No one returned until the next century. In 1904, Roald Amundsen found the pole again and discovered that it had moved--at least 50 km since the days of Ross.

The pole kept going during the 20th century, north at an average speed of 10 km per year, lately accelerating "to 40 km per year,"(speeding up!) says Newitt. At this rate it will exit North America and reach Siberia in a few decades.

Charles Hapgood first came to public attention in the mid-1950s with his theory of earth crust displacement, a radical geological idea which attracted the curiosity and support of Albert Einstein. The Einstein-Hapgood correspondence is a forgotten page in the history of science. Rose and I obtained these letters (ten from Einstein to Hapgood) from Albert Einstein's Archives in the Fall of 1995. They show, for the first time, just how extensively Albert Einstein was involved in assisting Charles Hapgood in the development of the theory. This correspondence is detailed in The Atlantis Blueprint. Here is a brief summary:

In his second reply (24 November 1952) to Hapgood, Einstein wrote that the idea of earth crust displacement should not be ruled out "apriori" just because it didn't fit with what we wanted to believe about the earth's past. What was needed, Einstein claimed, was solid "geological and paleontological facts."

For six months, Hapgood gathered geological evidence to support the idea of an earth crust displacement. On the 3rd of May 1953 he forwarded thirty-eight pages of this evidence to Einstein. Central to his argument was Hapgood's evidence that Lesser Antarctica was ice-free at the same time that North America lay smothered in ice. Einstein responded (8 May 1953):

"I find your arguments very impressive and have the impression that your hypothesis is correct. One can hardly doubt that significant shifts of the crust have taken place repeatedly and within a short time."

He urged Hapgood to follow up on evidence of "earth fractures". A month later (11 June 1953) Hapgood sent Einstein forty-two pages of evidence on earth fractures and the evolution of the ice sheets. Einstein wrote (17 December 1953) Hapgood urging him to address the "centrifugal momentum" problem. Hapgood responded with four pages on this problem and thirty-seven pages of "paleontological evidence" including the frozen mammoths of Arctic Siberia. Einstein was now convinced. On the 18th of May 1954, Einstein wrote a very favorable foreword for Hapgood's book EARTH'S SHIFTING CRUST: A KEY TO SOME BASIC PROBLEMS OF EARTH SCIENCE (published in 1958 by Pantheon Books, New York). The Foreword begins:

"I frequently receive communications from people who wish to consult me concerning their unpublished ideas. It goes without saying that these ideas are very seldom possessed of scientific validity. The very first communication, however, that I received from Mr. Hapgood electrified me. His idea is original, of great simplicity, and - if it continues to prove itself of great importance to everything that is related to the history of the earth's surface. ... I think that this rather astonishing, even fascinating, idea deserves the serious attention of anyone who concerns himself with the theory of the earth's development."

Hapgood and Einstein continued to correspond and finally met in January of 1955.

Einstein's last letter was dated the 9th of March 1955 just weeks before the great physicist died on the 18th of April 1955. (When Einstein died, his research on crustal displacement was still on his desk. What happened to it?)

Einstein's Archives are held in Jerusalem (with copies at Princeton) where they hold the record of an unique and unheralded collaboration on the theory of earth crust displacement.

Solar output has been rising slightly for about 100 years. The Sun’s increased flares and significant rise in activity are causing the inner core of Earth to warm up. Its not just from pollution. When this happens polar icecaps melt and break off and sea levels rise. El Niño and such are MAINLY due to inner ocean volcanic activity caused by the Sun’s increased solar flares and pull and effect in the Earths magnetic core. Could it be possible that the intensity that we are experiencing in the World, and all of the WARS, all of the suffering, all of our misguided thoughts, HEATED rage etc. can effect the sun, and effect ALL things terrestrial, enough to influence major outbursts if the Sun? Yes! Could it be that our fate TRULY does lay in the ability to have some sort of harmony and equilibrium in our neurological senses & thoughts? Just like the Hopi state, we could avoid huge disasters if we could contain our rage, uhealthy actions, desire for Global ownership thru War and the despot of colonialism, and just stop and pray? Sending beauitful peaceful tones of harmony and grace out into the air waves.....

STOP THE WARS. STOP THE SUFFERING…. And we will lesson the impact of this shift that we are undoubtedly in the midst of.

Our thoughts and actions are psychokinetically effecting the Sun, the Solar System and the whole Universe. Just as one small wave of a butterfly wing can change the course of life forever, so too can the wave of our thoughts and actions.

Another View:

Could it be that our Solar System (heliosphere) is moving into an area of higher aetheric energy density within the local interstellar medium, or LISM. NASA would loosely define the LISM as “the space medium (i.e. aetheric energy in this model) between the stars in our local area of the galaxy.” In our model, this could be roughly thought of as a “Dimensional Shift” that is already underway, though the term “matter-energy density shift” is preferable. As we move into this new field of energy in the galaxy, tremendous changes occur in the Sun, the planets and the Sun’s gigantic magnetic field which surrounds the entire system.

Dr. Dmitriev is a professor of geology and mineralogy and the chief scientific member of the United Institute of Geology, Geophysics and Mineralogy within the Siberian department of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Dmitriev is an expert on global ecology and fast-processing Earth events.

Dmitriev’s study begins by pointing out that the now government-acknowledged changes in the basic physics and behaviors of the Earth are becoming irreversible. Strong evidence suggests that these changes are caused by our movement into what Dmitriev calls “a highly charged material and energetic non-uniformity”, or what we would refer to as a higher density of aetheric energy, in nearby (local) interstellar space (the LISM). This previously unforeseen, highly charged energetic material is now being absorbed into the interplanetary area of our Solar System, creating “hybrid processes and excited energy states in all planets, as well as the Sun.” The observable effects of this transformation on Earth include an acceleration in our magnetic pole shift, a change in the vertical and horizontal content and distribution of ozone in the atmosphere and an ever-increasing magnitude and frequency of major catastrophic events.

One important point that Dmitriev stresses is that this is not just his own hypothesis:

A greater number of specialists in climatology, geophysics, planetophysics and heliophysics are tending towards a cosmic causative sequence version for what is happening. Indeed, events of the last decade give strong evidence of unusually significant heliospheric and planetophysical transformations.

Furthermore, Dmitriev acknowledges that the changes we have observed are forcing a completely different and more highly integrated view of the Cosmos to the discussion table. In this new model,

The climatic and biosphere processes here on Earth (through a tightly connected feedback system) are directly impacted by, and linked back to, the general overall transformational processes taking place in our Solar System. We must begin to organize our attention and thinking to understand that climatic changes on Earth are only one part, or link, in a whole chain of events taking place in the Heliosphere.

“If this is really happening, then why hasn’t NASA ever talked about it?”

As we shall see, according to one distinguished Ph.D., NASA seems to have a “persistent, pernicious bias” against any discussion of this heliospheric change, and will automatically assume, without question, that the LISM must maintain a “uniform density.” Other, more esoteric-sounding explanations are proposed for the observed luminosity and energetic increases, such as “re-accelerated solar wind,” that do not have the simplicity and elegance of Dmitriev et al’s model.

One rare exception to the rule of “unchanging LISM density” that we found was in a 1999 interview with Gary P. Zank at the University of Delaware. In this interview, Dr. Zank proposes that if the LISM density were to change, then catastrophe might result, and we “may not know when it was coming:”

“We’re surrounded by hot gas,” he said. “As our sun moves through extremely ‘empty’ or low-density interstellar space, the solar wind produces a protective bubble – the heliosphere around our solar system, which allows life to flourish on Earth. Unfortunately, we could bump into a small cloud at any time, and we probably won’t see it coming. Without the heliosphere, neutral hydrogen would interact with our atmosphere, possibly producing catastrophic climate changes, while our exposure to deadly cosmic radiation in the form of very high-energy cosmic rays would increase.”

One professor, Dr. D.E. Shemansky of the University of Southern California, has dared to make a particularly bold statement about this problem, suggesting that there is a deliberate effort in place by NASA to avoid any discussion of his “first evidence” for a “large increase” in the energetic density of the LISM:

Research on the properties of the Local Interstellar medium have been carried out in scattered periods beginning in 1978. The NASA Space Physics Division has shown a persistent pernicious bias against work on the effects of the neutral gas in the LISM in the United States, from the time of the formation of the Division… The most important contributions to research in this program are papers (48), which presents a calibration independent method of determining absolute LISM density, and (89), which presents the first evidence for a large increase in the LISM neutral atomic hydrogen density from Voyager measurements of the 50 AU region…

It is certainly interesting that Dr. Shemansky would say that NASA has displayed a “persistent, pernicious bias” against this work. The Microsoft Word 2000 thesaurus indicates that the word “pernicious” is synonymous with “destructive, harmful, deadly, evil” and “insidious.” So, the question must be asked: Why would there be a “deadly” and “insidious” interest on the part of NASA in not asking these crucial questions about an LISM density increase?

The answer might well be found in the studies from Russia such as those of Dr. Dmitriev, where it is well-established that this LISM density increase is underway, and that it is causing massive energetic changes throughout our entire heliosphere. These changes fit perfectly with worldwide ancient prophecies, including those of the Judeo-Christian Bible, describing events that would transpire in “end times,” or what other cultures referred to as “the dawning of the Golden Age.” It is undeniable that the media ridicules and ignores the UFO question, evidence of sunken ancient cities, Martian monuments and the like. The door has now opened a crack with the admission of “Global Warming,” but the massive changes in the Sun and planets are discarded footnotes. Another clear area of suppression is in the real meaning of “redshift,” which holds the key to giving us a complete model to prove that changes in LISM density can and does exist.

CORE EARTH HEATING UP

Returning to the Earth itself, another curious anomaly that we observe is the phenomenon of La Nina or El Nino. On many weather satellite photographs, there is clear infrared data to show that a massive sub-surface heating of the Earth’s oceans is now occurring:

Solar radiation is by no means strong enough to cause this heating, as these temperature anomalies emerge deep beneath the surface of the oceans. It is abvious that the oceans are being heated from within the earth itself. Furthermore, Dr. Dmitriev has shown that the strength of the Earth’s magnetic field rises up and down in direct synchronization with these temperature changes in the ocean. Furthermore, there is a 0.22 degrees C change in worldwide temperatures over the course of 30 days that correlates precisely with changes in the middle frequency of Earth’s magnetic field. Hence, the Earth’s core of luminous, magnetized plasma is directly responsible for these changes. As the pressure of the plasma suddenly increases, there is a surge in the strength of its magnetic field and a rise in its thermal level, rising the ocean temperatures. Similarly, the Novosibirsk Klyuchi Observatory in Russia has reported that the height of the magnetic field is growing by up to 30 nanoteslas per year, again showing changes in the core.

This increasing heat energy of the Earth’s core can also be seen in the rapid melting of our polar icecaps. The Ross Ice Shelf of Antarctica, which is as large as the state of Rhode Island, fully broke off and dropped into the ocean in the year 2000, as have several others in the last decade. This process has greatly accelerated in speed throughout 2002, with three gigantic chunks breaking away from the continent in only a few months of time, the two most recent being named C-18 and C-19. This news is becoming so prevalent that even the Bush Administration finally had to come forward and admit that “something is happening.”


The magnetic poles have been rapidly shifting their positions as well, leading up to what many authorities believe will be a complete shift in their north-south orientation. Our own Magnetic North is drifting away from its normal position at an ever-increasing speed. This is occurring so fast that airports all over the world are having to repaint their runways to follow the Earth’s changing magnetic field, since airplanes must use compasses to land. It has been suggested that this can also be seen in significant changes to the navigational patterns drawn into airline flight maps over just a ten-year period from 1990 to 2000, though we have not seen this personally.

This magnetic change is also affecting the animal kingdom.

Massive numbers of marine animals have been anomalously beaching themselves, and many other migratory animals, birds and fish are becoming confused and breaking their normal migration patterns. Dramatic cases of mass bird deaths have also been reported in the last few years, with no concrete explanations offered. As one example of avian migratory confusion, in 1999, radio talk show host Art Bell and collaborator Linda Moulton Howe reported on two different homing pigeon races that were conducted on the East Coast, where a completely unprecedented number of the pigeons became hopelessly lost while traveling along a well-known route, and never returned.

Furthermore, in Coming Earth Changes: The Evidence, Dr. William Hutton reveals that Earth’s inner core not only rotates faster than the outer core, but it actually rotates at a different angle than the outside of the Earth. This certainly suggests that a shift in orientation has already occurred on the inside of the Earth and will soon complete itself on the outside as well.

Dr. Dmitriev and others remind us that as the Earth’s magnetic poles continue to drift, they are traveling through a “magnetic pole shift corridor,” which is a narrow strip that they have always followed in the past prior to a complete magnetic pole reversal. Such reversals are not unusual, as we know that the magnetic poles have continually flipped from north to south in various lengths of time throughout history. In Figure 8.9 we can see the patterns, which were determined by analyzing the orientation of magnetized iron molecules released in the lava from the undersea ridges. As each new layer of lava cools along these ridges, the iron molecules orient themselves to the position of the Earth’s magnetic poles at that particular time.

Furthermore, geologist Gregg Braden shows that all the ingredients for a magnetic polar reversal are now occurring again. The first ingredient is that the strength of our gravitational field is extremely weak, in terms of Earth’s overall history. With a grade of 10 being the strongest, we are now very close to 1, at the bottom of the scale. Secondly, the strength of the magnetic field is approximately 38% lower than it was 2,000 years ago, and it is now measured to be decreasing at an average rate of about 6% per 100 years, according to Swedish scientist N.A. Morner in 1988. Thirdly, the earth’s electromagnetic energy vibrations, known as the Schumann resonance, appear to be rapidly increasing above the standard 7.8 cycles per second to reported values of 8.6 or higher in certain areas. Every time that these three ingredients have combined in Earth’s past history, says Braden, a magnetic pole shift has occurred.

When we turn our focus towards the Sun, we find similar anomalous increases in overall energetic activity. A team at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Oxford, led by Dr. Mike Lockwood, has discovered that in the last century, the overall strength of the Sun’s magnetic field has more than doubled, becoming 230 percent stronger than it was in 1901. Even more interestingly, this rate of magnetic field growth is continually increasing in speed.

Dr. Alexey Dmitriev reports that:

As a whole, all of the reporting and observation facilities give evidence to a growth in the velocity, quality, quantity and energetic power of our Solar System’s heliospheric properties.

And let’s remember that the heliosphere is the magnetic field that emanates from the Sun, surrounding our Solar System and beyond.

Every 11 years there is a major increase in the amount of Solar activity, and we have again hit this solar maximum in the period of 2000-2002. In Figure 8.11, which is tinted green for contrast, the difference between the solar minimum of 1996 and the maximum of 1999 is quite obvious. Furthermore, this current solar maximum has defeated all predictions for when it would end; it continues to show high levels of activity in summer of 2002, though it was originally expected to peak in 2000 and rapidly decline.

During the previous solar maximum in 1989, a very powerful X-ray flare on March 5th led to the Sun emitting a stream of high-energy protons, which flowed to the Earth continuously until March 13th. As reported by Chatelain and Gilbert in The Mayan Prophecies, this event caused the Earth’s magnetic poles to deviate by a whopping eight degrees in only a few hours, which was the most substantial sudden change in Earth’s magnetic field since 1952. This event also caused serious disruption of communications systems, created intense aurora borealis phenomena and completely collapsed the Canadian power grid, with more than a million people losing their electricity for several days.

Whatever the case may be… it is very clear that we are undergoing a shift of somekind. Shall we heed to the signs… and begin to make the necessary changes to align with this process as harmoniously as we can?

Shall we try tame the sun with our love and prayers? It will take at least 144,000 souls to fully ease the coming shift...:-)
