A little something "get to the fire"
-------------------------------
Prayer in school is not costing the American tax payers any money. A display of the 10 commandments are not costing the American tax payer any money. Although, I'm a strong believer in the First Amendment & Separation of church and state. I am grateful for the work of AU.org, FFRF.org, ACLU.org & others. I know that although prayer & the 10 commandments may not actually be costing money (beyond litigation) the First Amendment & Separation of church and state will always be priceless to Americans who understand it.
Yet, the Gregorian calendar (Official Catholic calendar) is costing Americans & others around the world an untold amount of money. Enron, WorldCom, Tyco & my favorite - the IMF & the World Bank with their $200 BILLION potential in accounting "ERRORS". How much is the Gregorian costing us? I'm curious to find out the numbers on banking & corporation errors simply because of uneven weeks and months? How many times have people been penalized for missing "the first" of the month, maybe because it was on a Saturday or Sunday or just simply missed it? Why are we paying the exact same amount of rent for all months even though some are 28 days, 29, 30 & 31 ?
Fiscal responsibility ? 2002, 2003 & probably 2004 will have all been record numbers in Bankruptcy. That combined with our national debt & deficit, Sounds like we could use all the help we can get.
If X-Judge Roy Moore (Alabama Supreme Court) feels that the 10 C's are proof that America is a "Christian nation" then, the Gregorian calendar is too. It is to me. I could not be any more worried about the religious right trying to turn this great country of ours into a Theocracy. The World 13 Moon Calendar will play vital role to remedy this issue, while being fair & democratic for all belief systems. 13 months of 28 days or exactly 4 weeks will be a relief to all, including accountants.
I would like to see the AU, FFRF, ACLU & others begin to at least discuss the issue. I support all that they do but, this is the one thing very, very important to me that they all avoid. Tracking down prayer in school & the display of the 10 Commandments is like chasing the smoke but never getting to the fire that created the smoke in the first place. Please take issue with the Gregorian calendar & get to the fire once & for all.
"If the Julian or Gregorian calendar was to be offered as a new device for measuring time, we, with our present knowledge & state of living, would reject it as something utterly impractical, lacking in harmony & order, unbalanced & irregular, too clumsy a calendar to make calculations by..." - Yet, we use it today while we claim to be so scientifically advanced. Is it time to ask: Why do we use an instrument of imperfective measure to coordinate the affairs of the world?
I realize that Freethinkers rarely agree on much but, now is a time to unite to some level & agree to a few things.
1. Americans need to be educated on the First Amendment & Separation of church and state.
2. We need to keep an eye on the extreme fundamentalist religious right & their agenda to turn this country into a Theocracy.
3. It's time to take issue with the Gregorian Calendar.
Most people do not understand that by opposing the Separation of church and state they are also opposing the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. They are in affect, opposing their own religious freedoms for themselves & others, potentially supporting a Theocracy & don't even know it.
-------------------------------
WE have absolutely got to get more scientific proof for the day out of time, & the World 13 Moon calendar on the "Official" website of tortuga. Skeptics simple are not convinced with the material availabe. Simple as that.
